Here's another update for the next couple of weeks.
Math- Watch for the Chapter 9 test coming home in the next day or two. You are welcome to help your child make up the missed questions if you would like. We have just started working on our Solids and Shapes unit. In this chapter, we will be discussing lines and angles along with shapes. There are many new vocabulary words for the students to learn. Here are some of them: right angle, obtuse, acute, perpendicular, parallel, intersecting, point, and rays. Some of the terminology for solids include: polygon, parallelogram, trapezoid, rhombus, cylinder, cube, pyramid, cone, quadrilateral, vertices, and all of the names of the basic shapes.
Times Tables- We have covered all of the times tables and are working on getting all of our students passed off on their remaining times tables. Wednesdays are our usual pass-off days.
Reading/Literacy- Daily 5 continues as usual. I have also been benchmarking the students the last couple of weeks. You will be receiving a note at the end of this week updating you on your child's grades and reading levels. They have all made great progress!
Spelling & Vocabulary- Same as usual. Both tests on Friday.
Keyboarding- We just completed lesson #9. The lessons will be concluded at lesson #20. I really appreciate your help at home. This skill is crucial to this generation of students going through school!
Valentines Day Party will be held on Thursday, February 14th. The students are welcome to send in small valentines for one another. If they decide to do this, please make sure there is one for every student. It is very devastating for a child to be left out.
